Sheriff and Detention Records
Stanly County Sheriff’s Office
223 South 2nd Street
Albemarle, NC 28001
Main line: 704-986-3714
The official inmate list is the current county custody and booking-photo check. The Sheriff’s contact page is the best place to verify details before calling. A North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association directory lists 704-986-3700 as a 24-hour non-emergency line and 704-986-3734 as a detention number. A jail-administrator directory lists 704-986-3858 for booking/detention. Because directories differ, confirm the right number through the official website.
For a public-record request, ask the Sheriff for the current procedure. No dedicated booking-photo form, current fee, or guaranteed turnaround was located. Name the booking record, charge sheet, arrest report, or photograph; provide a narrow date range and identifier; ask for any copying charge and the statutory reason for a withholding or redaction.
Emergency and Dispatch
Call 911 for an emergency, crime in progress, or immediate threat. The Sheriff’s tip page also directs emergencies to 911. The official Stanly Communications / 911 page explains 911, text-to-911, non-emergency dispatch, and call-recording requests. A tip form and a records request are not emergency services.
City Police Records
Albemarle Police Department: Its Records Division page says it maintains criminal incidents and arrests and accepts available public report requests at the front desk. The reviewed pages show 155 West South Street with a 704-984-9500 records contact and 144 North Second Street with 704-984-9400 in department material. Verify the current office before visiting. The city says reports are not available through its online report viewer.
Locust Police Department: The official contact page lists 186 Ray Kennedy Drive, Locust, NC 28097, 704-888-4744, fax 704-888-1566, and weekday hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. It does not publish a booking-photo form, fee, or response time.
Norwood Police Department: The official page lists 139 North Main Street, PO Box 697, Norwood, NC 28128, 704-474-3716, fax 704-474-7555, and norwoodpolice@norwoodnc.gov. It does not publish a detailed records procedure. Call the department for the current route.
Courts and Dispositions
The Stanly County Judicial Branch page links to eCourts and criminal calendars. The Clerk contact identified in county material is 201 South Second Street, Albemarle, NC 28002, 704-986-7000. Verify hours and access rules before visiting. Court staff can explain case-file access; they do not certify a third-party mugshot page.
Use the court system for first appearance, later filings, and disposition. A booking charge is an accusation and can be changed or dismissed. A court result does not automatically update every copied internet page.
State and Federal Locators
Use NCDAC for state prison, probation, or parole. It does not cover county-jail inmates. Use the BOP locator for federal inmates. Use the ICE locator for immigration custody within its stated limits. These systems do not replace the Sheriff’s county roster or provide a guaranteed public booking photo.
Public-Records Requests
North Carolina G.S. 132-1 et seq. is the starting point for a written request. G.S. 132-1.4 limits access to many criminal-investigation records. A request should be narrow and should not assume that every photo is releasable. Ask for the response date, fees, redactions, and legal basis for any denial. If the requested person was arrested by a city agency, send the incident-report request to that department and the county booking-photo request to the Sheriff.
